“Paul was the perfect mix of passionate and supportive when I was a student. I began the class pretty convinced I couldn’t draw a thing, but by the end, I’d found a new hobby I loved. Teaching graphic narrative brings Paul alive, and it shows.” —Conner Carey

On Teaching

My philosophy of art is this: I try to foster a fun, positive, purposeful and productive classroom where students are encouraged to express themselves or ask for guidance and support if they feel lost or left behind. In-class discussions are a follow-up for every exercise, making use of the best resource we have in class: other students.

By always fostering a sense of camaraderie within a group, my goal is to make learning as supportive, safe, and sacred as possible for each student. I always want to give students the option to collaborate or eke out their own space and plunge into their projects with full passion and intention.
