To graduate, students must also satisfy the general requirements for a master’s degree

We recognize that students have different goals and professional pathways, which is why we offer two academic tracks: thesis and non-thesis. Both tracks share a strong core curriculum focused on soil biology, regenerative system design, organic certification, and holistic land management.

The only divergence comes in the final two courses of the program. Thesis-track students take AG 595: Research Methods & Design followed by AG 597: Master’s Project, completing an independent research study that often serves as a foundation for further academic or consulting work.

The non-thesis track is more applied, with students taking AG 528: Scientific Approaches to Agricultural Systems and AG 565: Strategic Skills for Agriculture Professionals, which focus on professional implementation, communication, and leadership within the field.

Students don’t need to decide right away—many choose their track after completing the first few courses, once they’ve had time to clarify their direction and interests.
