Art Students Accepted to Top Graduate Schools
Four of our undergraduate art majors were recently accepted into multiple MFA programs with full and partial scholarships.
“These programs are incredibly competitive,” said Gyan Shrosbree, assistant professor of Art. “This year, we had all four of our applying students accepted to several programs each.”

MIU’s Sustainable Living Center Recognized for Energy Efficiency
Maharishi International University’s Schwartz-Guich Sustainable Living Center has caught the attention of Getting to Net Zero, an organization that keeps track of ultra-efficient buildings and their energy usage.
According to their calculations, the Sustainable Living Center’s net Energy Use Intensity (EUI) was -0.5 in 2015, indicating that the building produced 5 percent more energy than it used.
Getting to Net Zero said that the Center is among the highest-performing buildings they had encountered, especially given Iowa’s harsh climate.
Alumna Genevra Bell Turns Her Adorable Animal Art into a Business
Genevra Bell, daughter of Maharishi International University faculty members Ken and Juliette Daley, graduated from MIU in 2009, earning a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis in ceramics.
Although her clay pieces were also vehicles for illustration, she never thought she would one day make a living drawing animals.
Biniam Gebregziabher: Teaching All Students to Code
Biniam Gebregziabher, a graduate of the MS in Computer Science program at MIU, is passionate about teaching kids how to code. He runs an educational program for young students in the Washington, D.C., area, teaching them about computer programming and digital technology and helping them excel in their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills.
Mohamed Samy: World-Traveled Software Engineer Settles in Fairfield
Mohamed Samy, a computer science student from Egypt, recently starred in a short video, which received over a million views on Facebook. In the video, Mohamed described his experience of being a Muslim student at MUM. He chose to speak in Arabic so that people in the Arabic-speaking world can learn about MUM.

Alumni Couple Supports Consciousness-Based Education in Bali
Adam and Natalie Delfiner met at MUM in 2009. Since then, they completed the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Teacher Training Course, got married, and began working as full-time teachers of the TM technique in Perth, Australia, as well as the island of Bali, Indonesia.
