Welcome to the MIU music blog! For my first entry I will be talking about Tara De Santis, a second year Media and Communications student at MIU.
Tara has been composing and singing since she was 15 years old, but as she explains, her passion really took off when she signed up for Digital Music Production class last year.
In May 2015, program director Andy Bargerstock presented the award for the most outstanding Accounting Professionals MBA graduate to Abdul Ghani Sheikh. This is not the first time Sheik has received an award while at MIU. In August 2011, he participated on the Baldwin Team, the first team at MIU to place first in the Capsim Foundation Simulation—an online business simulation.
A single with lyrics by student Tara De Santis has gone viral, with over 28,000 views on Soundcloud.com the first month it was released.
Last weekend, MIU’s Ethiopian community held their largest annual celebration: Ethiopian New Year. Students, staff, faculty, and community members of all cultural backgrounds joined together to enjoy traditional food, dancing, performances, and socializing. You can learn more about what makes this holiday unique at last year’s blog on the subject.
Below, we’ve included more than 40 pictures of the event. Enjoy, and contact us if you’re included in the pictures and want a copy for yourself!

During those months we have an influx of all-new students, whose presence helps make the quality of life on our campus all the more rich and exciting. We are always so thrilled to have these new faces around that we feel it’s worth celebrating!

Momone Maley is known to many at MUM for being a very hard working student. Having been involved with many different projects at MUM ranging from farming to beekeeping, Momone has learned and achieved a lot in her time here. Now she is close to earning her MBA degree, but even with all of the responsibilities that come with earning a master’s degree she still finds time to pursue her sustainability projects. Last year she decided to dedicate her time toward breathing new life into a section of land next...
