On Saturday, June 18th, David Lynch took part in an enlightening Q&A with MIU’s 2016 graduating class. Here’s what the press had to say about the event, the university, and the appointment of Dr. John Hagelin as university president:

With a tradition as deeply established as Thanksgiving, taking some extra time to change our habits toward more sustainable practices can seem overwhelming. What if Aunt Bessy comes to the feast only to find real, organic cranberry sauce in place of the sugar-laden gelatin product she is so accustomed to? We here at the MIU Sustainable Living Department have sewn together this guide to a more sustainable Thanksgiving that will be tighter than the sweater Aunt Bessy so kindly made for you...
What is there to do in Fairfield? More than you might expect! One thing we love about our town is the plethora of parks located within just a few miles of MIU campus. For our second episode of Fun in Fairfield, we visited several of our favorite parks to give you a firsthand lookat these beautiful areas.
Sustainable Living students from MIU went out to the nearby town of Kalona, IA to learn about soil testing and sustainable agriculture products and techniques promoted by AgriEnergy Resources. Kalona is predominately populated by Amish and Mennonite citizens, many of which have taken up organic farming. Some members of their community teamed up with AgriEnergy Resources to run a comparison study on organic corn grown with products that are promoted by AgriEnergy, organic corn grown without it, and conventional (GMO) corn.
What is there to do in Fairfield? It’s a common question we hear from students who are new to the area. Thankfully, there are plenty of things to do in town – even within walking distance of campus. See for yourself in the first video of our “Fun in Fairfield” series!
There’s a bright blue glow reflecting off the top of Everybody’s Whole Foods Store in Fairfield, Iowa. That luminescence can be attributed to the recent expansion of solar power arrays installed by Ideal Energy. Once completed, Everybody’s will have a 44.88 kW of solar power that they will generate independently. Collectively, the arrays of solar panels will produce 57,802 kWh on an annual basis.
