MUM Student Grows Her Business Through Media Classes

Aditi Gentsch is a third year student studying an individualized major in Consciousness-Based Business and Media.  She’s applying what she’s learning in Media courses to help her growing organic skincare business, Aditi Botanicals.

Born in Fairfield, she spent some time in San Diego, studying photography and graphic design, and also going to an aviation academy.  Reflecting on her return to Fairfield and enrollment at MIU, she said, “I’ve just been really, really happy since.”

She had worked in the nonprofit sector for ten years when she decided to apply for a doctoral degree. Daniel Gorman has just finished his four years here at MIU and is quickly moving on to bigger and better things. Having started his own business, Bubbling Brine Brothers, Dan is set to take the fermented foods market by storm. I was able to pull him aside and talk to him briefly about his senior project, Knowledge Fair presentation and plans for post-graduate life:

Sabita Sawhney: Professor of Management and Restaurant Owner

Many people know Sabita Sawhney as owner of Sabi’s Café, an ayurvedic vegetarian restaurant, where she cooks and serves delicious Indian lunches five times a week. Others know her as assistant professor of management at MIU who teaches courses in lean management, entrepreneurship, and marketing. How does she do all this? She practices what she teaches and applies the principles of lean management to all areas of her life.

Tamlin Day: Creativity and Entrepreneurship

Tamlin Day came to MIU from Austin, Texas, where he worked as a nanny and preschool teacher for 14 years. Some of his friends practiced the Transcendental Meditation® technique, so Tamlin visited Fairfield from time to time. He enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Fairfield, and after a visit to MIU he decided to apply. He learned TM in September 2013 and enrolled the following January.
