Dr. Bargerstock to Speak at the 2016 Lean Accounting Summit

At the Lean Accounting Summit on August 25-26, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Andrew Bargerstock, head of the MIU Accounting department, will facilitate a 60-minute breakout session on the topic “Are We Leaning Away from Standard Costing?”

MBA Accounting Students Earn XBRL Certification

Seven MBA Accounting students from MIU recently passed the XBRL Certification exam offered by XBRL International. In March 2016, this credential was enhanced by a course in SEC Reporting with XBRL, where students got hands-on experience with conversion software that transforms financial statements and reports to XBRL, which is now required by the US Security and Exchange Commission. Business faculty member Naveed Abbasi guided the class in the SEC Reporting course.

Dr. Bargerstock Collaborates with Rule 1 Investing

Over the past two years Dr. Andrew Bargerstock, Director of Maharishi International University’s MBA Program, has been working with Phil Town, a recognized hedge fund manager and author of the NY Times best seller Rule #1 Investing.  Town’s company, Rule 1 Investing (ruleoneinvesting.com), is based south of Atlanta in Moreland, GA.  The Rule 1 model portfolio was ranked #1 in 2014 by the American Association for Individual Investors (aaii.com) when it produced a 50% rate of return. In 2013, it produced a 47% rate of return.
