Nearly two millennia ago, Polynesians set off in voyaging canoes on a journey that would lead them to the islands that would become known as Hawai’i. They were not imagining themselves as explorers “discovering” these isolated islands in the Pacific, rather, it was a belief that in making the journey, in setting out for the land, they were bringing the island into being.
We are proud to announce that the MIU Green Iowa AmeriCorps team is the winner of Americorps’ Service Year Alliance Higher Education Award for Innovative Campus-Corps Partnership!
The MIU Green Iowa AmeriCorps team, funded primarily by the state of Iowa, is being renewed for a second year, with a continued focus on promoting sustainability awareness, performing energy audits, and creating a greener community.
All graduation-related activities this year are being assessed to see how they can be made more environmentally friendly.
