The first summit took place at MIU and combined the dynamic interactive structure of past ELI summits with that of the Forest Academy block for a two-week leadership experience. Tamlin Day came to MIU from Austin, Texas, where he worked as a nanny and preschool teacher for 14 years. Some of his friends practiced the Transcendental Meditation® technique, so Tamlin visited Fairfield from time to time. He enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Fairfield, and after a visit to MIU he decided to apply. He learned TM in September 2013 and enrolled the following January.

During the past few months, the University appointed several new administrators in key leadership positions. Among these are the role of dean of admissions, which is now shared by Aster Hesse and Gwen Stowe. Ms. Hesse is a native of Holland with an MA degree in Maharishi Vedic ScienceSM from MIU.
