Bike Rescue Mission Spearheaded by Flo Bannout
Flo Bannout, manager of the Sustainable Living department’s bike shop, worked with MIU Campus Security to schedule an abandoned bike pickup. With a team that consisted of Rich Dana, Flo and others they were able to pickup 53 bikes around the university’s campus! The baseline criteria for choosing the bikes was based on if they had completely rusted chains and 2 flat tires.
The bikes will be held for 10 days. If they are not reported to Campus Security by then, Flo will begin to repair the bikes. The repaired bikes will then be redistributed to students who are in need of them.
By riding a bike instead of driving a car, you can reduce your yearly CO2 emissions by up to 20%! Go green, ride a bike. Contribute even more by building your own DIY Solar Bike Station!
