Andrew Bargerstock PhD

As Director of the MBA Program and Chair of the Accounting Department, Dr. B is a recognized thought and research leader in Lean Accounting. He has been recognized by the Lean Enterprise Institute and the Institute for Management Accountants as the Excellence in Lean Accounting Professor for 2009 and 2016. His forthcoming 2017 book, Mastering Leadership Alignment: Linking Value Creation to Cash Flows, will be published by Business Expert Press of Chicago.


Scott Herriott PhD

With a PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, Dr. Herriott is a prolific business author, having recently published two books on sustainable business. The first, Feasibility Analysis for Sustainable Technologies (2015) combines basic engineering with accounting and finance. After he published his 2016 book Metrics for Sustainable Business, he was invited to help teach a 3-hour professional development workshop on that topic at the national meeting of the American Accounting Association. He is currently helping a doctoral student research the assurance of corporate sustainability reports.


William Graff CPA

With both CPA and CMA certifications, Professor Graff has developed a legendary skill in preparing accountants to successfully pass parts of the CPA examinations. He teaches CPA review courses and Intermediate Accounting I and II. Professor Graff consulted with the World Bank for two years on finance and accounting systems for the government of Uganda. His continuing research interests include the implications of Accounting as a self-referral feedback system, and the experience of Transcendental Consciousness as the basis for business success.


Anil Maheshwari PhD

With more than 20 years experience in corporate IT management including 9 years with IBM in Austin, Texas, Dr. Anil Mahreshwari has published several recent books including Business Intelligence and Data Mining (2014), Big Data Essentials (2016), and Transformative Leadership: Spirit in Action (2016). His areas of interest include Emerging Technologies, Data Analytics, Organizational Learning, Organizational Development, and Trust.


Naveed Abbasi

Professor Naveed Abbasi is Director of the Enterprise Resource Planning Program and brings more than 10 years of valuable experience in implementing ERP systems for multi-national corporations. Besides teaching SAP courses, he teaches financial modeling and data analysis using Excel. He has a strong background in US-GAAP, GAAS, IFRS, SOX and data mining through SPSS

Rapid graduation versus practical training internships

For those who wish to graduate as quickly as possible, the required on-campus time consists of 11–15 months of continuous study. Prior academic background in business courses may shorten this duration. International students who select the rapid graduation track may qualify for Optional Practical Training for one year of possible full-time employment after graduation.

MBA specializations


We prepare students for careers in accounting and finance at middle and higher levels of management. Students gain knowledge and skills for entering the international workforce as auditors, financial analysts, staff accountants, or controllers. During your on-campus time, you may choose to take some courses to prepare for the CPA examinations.

We have two main MBA program specializations to choose from:

SAP Finance

We prepare students to take positions as SAP-Finance analysts, ERP consultants, or accounting managers in organizations that use ERP platforms.

About the program director

Dr. Andrew Bargerstock is the Chair of the Accounting Department and Director of the MBA Program at MUM. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has been an executive with a Fortune 500 company, established two successful businesses, and consulted with many companies including Allstate Insurance, BJC Health System, W.L. Gore & Associates, US Patent and Trademark Office, and Virginia Department of Social Services.

He was one of two professors in the USA to be awarded the Lean Enterprise Institute’s (LEI) 2009 Excellence in Lean Accounting Professor Award. Recently, he published two research articles in lean accounting in Management Accounting Quarterly (2011, 2013). He also co-authored a management accounting ethics paper that was named IMA’s 2014 Carl Menconi Award: Best Case Study in Business Ethics (title: Watson Water Technologies). He continues to consult with organizations on implementing lean and lean accounting.
