Recently, we had the opportunity to interview with Robin Hinz, one of our dedicated online students from the MA in Maharishi Vedic Science program. Robin entered into the program in 2016 and graduates in 2019 and chose the MUM Online program because of its convenience.

Robin Hinz

Why did you choose this program?
“For many years I was interested in attending MUM, but moving to Iowa was not an option for me. One day, when searching extensively for the right master’s program, I discovered MUM was offering an online program so I immediately enrolled and was accepted.”

How has the practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) helped you academically?
“I learned the TM technique in 1982 but only meditated a few times per week due to time constraints. Once I started attending MUM, I learned the importance of a regular practice and began meditating twice a day. I have noticed huge differences in all areas of my life and feel I am more focused on my studies.”

Tell us about your favorite experience as an online student.
“I have always preferred online college programs because I can fit the school work into my schedule. I looked into several programs that appealed to me, but would have had to take classes at specific times of the day, rather than when it is convenient for me.”

What do you do for fun?
“I am currently pursuing a career as a professional writer and have created a series of children’s illustrated books (with the possibility of animation) based on my own real-life experiences as a traveling chef. I am also completing work on a Southwest vegan style cookbook which I hope to publish in the next few months. It may sound like work, but I find writing to be a relaxing pursuit, and writing about cooking is, even more, fun!”

Congratulations to Robin on the success of her writing career! Robin is just one of many fascinating students enrolled in our online programs. Learn more about our online MA in Maharishi Vedic Science and apply for our Fall entry at this link.
