This new course continues the Maharishi in 1959 series with enlightening talks that Maharishi gave on his first trip to Los Angeles, California, as well as more talks from New York City in 1959. The first course in this series, Maharishi in 1959 in NYC, is available online and is not a prerequisite to this course. All of these historic lectures have been preserved by the Maharishi Global Archives & Collections at MIU.

Maharishi in 1959
Imagine it is 1959 and you have heard that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has come to Los Angeles for the first time to teach meditation and then to New York City. He gives many lectures answering any and all questions from members of his new Spiritual Regeneration Movement.
Don’t you wish you could be there to hear him? Now you can. Here are the titles of the talks:

- Fullness of the Heart, Imagining Bliss, Developing Special Powers, 19 min.- Maharishi describes how, in the state of enlightenment, some special powers develop of themselves, others need practicing. And he answers questions about the growth of bliss and fullness of the heart.
- Realization Part 1: The Nature of the Mind in the State of Realization, 40 min. – This tape continues the questions and answers about possible health concerns in the body of an enlightened person: their cause, and how the realized mind is preoccupied with happiness, not illness.
- Realization Part 2: Realization Through TM, 41 min. – Maharishi describes the state of self-realization.
- The Medium of Meditation, 43 min. – Maharishi describes the two advantages of retiring the mind from the gross to the subtle.
- Meditation, 39 min. – Maharishi compares TM with other forms of meditation and assures the audience of its safety. No one will drown in the ocean of bliss.
- Maharishi Answers Questions on the Process of Transcending, 58 min. – Maharishi describes the analogy of a poor man losing his hut and gaining a palace. He gains universality. His individuality is not lost.

Susan Seifert
About Susan Seifert
Susan Seifert learned TM in Boston in 1968 and became a TM Teacher in Rishikesh in 1970 and traveled with Maharishi in India after her Teacher Training Course. She taught TM in New York City and the surrounding areas in the early 1970s and was full time in the TM organization through the mid-1980s in various capacities, including Maharishi’s staff.
Susan has lived in Fairfield since 1979. She has her own coaching business, supporting clients world-wide to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Buzz Allen
About Buzz Allen
Buzz Allen is currently an administrator and founding board member at the Maharishi Global Archives & Collections at MIU. He became a TM Teacher in 1971 and has taught over 500 people. He graduated from Princeton University in 1975 and has worked for the TM organization full-time for many years at Cobb Mountain, Maharishi School and MIU. Since 1998 he has also worked as President of the Accelerated Learning Foundation which teaches math and science reasoning through educational games worldwide. His main roles there were project director for programming teams adapting manual games to online versions and he was also the head of marketing and teacher training.
FAQ
Are the lectures just audio recordings, or are they videos?
The audio lectures include a slide show of period photos plus subtitles.
How good is the audio quality?
The audio quality is surprisingly good for 1959 and most people will not need to rely on the subtitles, but some might find them helpful.
If I can’t understand the videos clearly, and if I don’t like reading subtitles, can I get a refund?
Yes. You can try out the course and see if it’s clear enough for you. If not, we will offer a full refund. Please request it by sending an email to ce@miu.edu before the fourth class.
How long are the videos available to view?
Videos are available to view for at least one year after signing up.
