Total Knowledge and the Bhagavad-Gita
“My understanding and appreciation of the Bhagavad Gita rose to a whole new level.” —EC
Ten-Lesson Course Now Available Online! (Each lesson is approximately 1.5 hours)
Course Leaders: Raja Peter Warburton, PhD, along with special guest Dr. Vernon Katz and Professor Tom Egenes
Prerequisite: This is an advanced course for TM® Teachers and graduates of the TM-Sidhi® course, plus those Meditators who have a familiarity and comfort with many of the terms and concepts used in Maharishi Vedic ScienceSM.
“Yoga, or Union of the mind with the divine intelligence, begins when the mind gains transcendental consciousness,” Maharishi writes in his commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita. The story relayed in the Bhagavad-Gita and Maharishi’s amazing commentary on Chapters 1-6, written in the 1960s with Dr. Vernon Katz, perfectly illustrate the depth of wisdom captured in the unique curriculum of Total Knowledge that Maharishi developed with Dr. Warburton in the early 2000s.
In recent years, two of the most popular one-week courses offered at MIU have been those on “Total Knowledge and the Brahma Sutras” and “Total Knowledge and the Upanishads.” Now, the same brilliant speakers bring you this course on “Total Knowledge and the Bhagavad-Gita.” Dr. Warburton’s presentation of the complete framework of Maharishi’s Total Knowledge lays the perfect ground for Dr. Vernon Katz and Dr. Tom Egenes to illuminate Maharishi’s precious insights into the Bhagavad-Gita.
$125 (or $75 for full-time MIU or Maharishi School staff, faculty, and students, or full-time Governors, IAA grant recipients, and anyone who is retired and cannot otherwise afford the course). Also, any MIU alumni can get 10% off the full course fee.
The first class is free and is available to view online.
Peter Warburton, PhD
Dr. Peter Warburton is currently the Chief Executive Officer at the Maharishi Foundation in the UK as well as several other nations. He has a doctorate in Supreme Political Science from Maharishi University of World Peace. His thesis included the elaborate displays of Total Knowledge charts which he worked on under Maharishi’s guidance. In 1971, Raja Peter graduated with a Masters degree in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University. He then became a teacher of the TM technique and started working directly with Maharishi continuously for the next 36 years. During that time, Maharishi tutored Dr. Warburton personally to bring out the specific curriculum of Total Knowledge — Maharishi’s Vedic Science — which Dr. Warburton has been doing so inspiringly since 2008. At the same time Dr. Warburton is also developing the application of Total Knowledge in new directions that Maharishi specified, as we see in this year’s courses at MIU.
Special Guest Vernon Katz, PhD
Dr. Vernon Katz is author of two highly acclaimed volumes of Conversations with Maharishi about the Brahma Sutras (MIU Press). With Dr. Tom Egenes he also published a well-received new translation of the Upanishads (Tarcher Penguin).
Dr. Katz is currently a trustee emeritus of MIU, as well as a visiting professor in the Department of Maharishi Vedic Science. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy from Oxford University. Dr. Katz spent many years with Maharishi and assisted him with the translation and commentary of the Bhagavad-Gita and the Brahma Sutras.
Professor Tom Egenes, PhD
Dr. Tom Egenes is Professor of Maharishi Vedic Science and Sanskrit. He earned an MA and PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia; an MA in Higher Education Administration from Maharishi International University; and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. Professor Egenes is the author of four popular books on teaching Sanskrit and two books on the Upanishads.
