Theresa Golden was at MIU for 18 months, in 2009-2010, and graduated with a BA in Media and Communications.

A Portrait of the Golden Family

Theresa bubbles with news of important events that have occurred since she graduated from MIU. She completed a master’s degree in Education at Antioch University in L.A. and created a film production company called Gold Vision Global Media.  She’s proud, too, that she inspired her husband and children to meditate, and recently celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary.

At Gold Vision Global Media she is in charge of the education and documentary divisions, and her son, who is an actor/writer/producer, runs the film and blog divisions.

When she was studying media at MIU, Theresa was inspired to create a documentary about MIU, including both its past and present.  Five years out, she is still working on that project, and is determined to bring it to the public, all with a “gold carpet” event.  Theresa says, “This project won’t let me go!”  She is now seeking funding and a film editor.

Theresa says she wants to inform the public and particularly African-American youth about how her TM practice and MIU enabled her to find her true self and to feel in touch with it at all times. She says that she and other African-Americans students were elated to be at MIU because they had never before found a place where they could go into silence and just be.  Here they found that the time for deep silence with the Self was fully supported by the environment.

She says MIU gave her not only a degree to enter on her resume but an experience that changed her. “One of the most important changes I experienced at MIU and since I left has been dropping my old anger. I no longer think in terms of ‘me against them ‘or ‘I don’t belong.’  I know what I want to accomplish, and now I bring my inner calm to every step on that journey.”
