Docu Café: Making a Living as a Documentary FilmmakerWEBINAR | 67:03
Join us for the fourth session of Docu Café, our monthly webinar series on the art and practice of documentary filmmaking.
Documentary filmmaking is both a creative calling and a viable profession. In this session, we will explore the many paths that can support a sustainable and fulfilling life in this field. We will look at:
- The range of careers open to documentary filmmakers, including directing, producing, shooting, editing, journalism, education, and branded content
- How to build a professional presence, cultivate relationships, and find consistent opportunities
- The balance between artistic purpose and practical livelihood, and how to move confidently between the two
At Maharishi International University, we see filmmaking as a way of living with curiosity, awareness, and purpose. Our MFA is designed to help filmmakers grow as both artists and professionals so that they can create meaningful work and build a life that supports it. Bring your questions. We will leave time for open conversation and Q&A. We look forward to seeing you at Docu Café!
The session will be led by Stuart J. Tanner (BBC, Nat Geo, Amnesty International Award) and Amine Kouider (David Lynch Foundation, Playing for Change), program directors of MIU’s MFA in Documentary Filmmaking.
