MUM’s Dr. Craig Pearson will be reading from his book The Supreme Awakening: Experiences of Enlightenment Throughout Time and How You Can Cultivate Them on September 19th at 7 PM at Iowa City’s Prairie Lights Cafe.
After his reading, Dr. Pearson will answer questions and sign copies of his book.
“Throughout history, great men and women have described exalted experiences, moments of extraordinary wakefulness, freedom, and bliss — as different from our ordinary waking experience as waking is from dreaming,” reads the book’s description on Amazon.com. “Laozi, Plato, Rūmī, St. Teresa of Avila, Emerson, Emily Dickinson, Black Elk, Einstein — people of all times and places have described experiences that rank among the most inspiring in all of literature.”
Readers across the world turn to these inspirational writings every day to remind themselves that there is more to life than what we see on the surface. As mystical as these experiences might seem, however, there is a logic behind them, and even a method which anybody can follow to directly experience this greater reality for themselves.
In The Supreme Awakening, Dr. Craig Pearson draws on the work of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to explain the science of such transcendental experiences. As a reader, you’ll learn about how these experiences happen, where they come from, and how they all tie together, as well as how you can experience this unboundedness for yourself through the simple and effortless Transcendental Meditation technique.
The Supreme Awakening brings together a rich and diverse collection of experiences, including accounts from Albert Einstein, Walt Whitman, Meister Eckhart, and more, and shows that the sublime experiences reported by great people across time are real, universal, understandable, and available to everyone.
